THE LAW OF LOVE (for Nigel)

There is no law of love.
Love has power and is a Person.
Love wills even when feelings fail.
It outlasts mere sentiment
And chooses to exist
Outside of hormone's help.

It cuddles the convict
And lavishes attention
Upon the great unwashed.

'I am too soiled for love.
Too vile and evil
For love's touch,' you cry.
'I am a leper and unclean.'

Love cradles and protects
And passionately nurses
Your screaming body;
It tends the sewer of your soul.
It meets each tender anguish.

Will you join us
In this journey's flow,
This endless stream
Of tears and action?

Do you will
To join your will
With Love's,
Acting and knowing
For its own sake
And nothing else?

You will ?
Then let this be
Your living will
And lasting testament,
Your sacrifice and
Willing sacrament,
Your lasting monument.

Be ferocious
In decision,
And disregard
All derision.

Let Love be your upholder
And your surrounding ocean.
Let Love be your reward
And the aim of your devotion.
